Professional Background

Ken Gable, originally from Andover, MA, is a distinguished saxophonist and music educator with a career spanning multiple major cities and prestigious collaborations. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Ken has had the honor of performing with acclaimed artists such as Wynton Marsalis, David Sanchez, Michael Philip Mossman, Herb Pomeroy, Alan Dawson, Victor Mendoza, Sal Cracchiolo, Steve Cotter, and Lee Thornburg. During his time in Los Angeles, he played with the MVPs, sharing stages with renowned artists like Kelly Clarkson, The Go-Go’s, Tom Jones, and Santana.

Education & Teaching

Ken’s educational background is equally impressive, having earned an undergraduate degree in Music Education from Berklee College of Music. He has taught at various levels in schools across Massachusetts, New York, and California. His teaching credentials include positions in the jazz programs at Queens College and St. John’s University. Additionally, Ken has adjudicated the Alhambra High School Jazz Festival, the SCSBOA Honor Band for southern California and the MMEA All-State Jazz Ensemble.

While at Lexington High School, he directed the LHS Jazz Ensemble and Combo, leading them to first place in their division at the 2012 Charles Mingus Jazz Festival. In 2019, he served as the Jazz Ensemble Director for the Senior SEMSBA Festival.

Current Work

Currently, Ken is an active performer with the Worcester Jazz Orchestra and regularly substitutes for the Compaq Big Band. He also performs at local restaurants including Evviva Trattoria, Hearth Pizza and every Saturday night at the Baristo Cafe Bar in Patriots Place.
